This medium bodied wine was fermented at cool temperatures to maintain the fruit and varietal character. Ten percent of the wine was bled from the tanks the 3rd day of cold soaking and finished fermentation separately in barrel, producing a bright fruity component that was blended back into the main lot prior to bottling. The wine shows the attractiveness of cool climate Syrah, with white pepper characteristics and a delicate balance between fruit and refreshing bright acidity on the finish. This Syrah was aged 10 months in 1 to 3 year old French oak barrels.

Vineyard Notes
The estate vineyard in Mattituck that Schneider Vineyards planted and has maintained since 2002 is the sole source for the limited production Schneider wines. The Mattituck vineyard has 11 acres of red Bordeaux varieties predominately Cabernet Franc and an additional 3 acres of Syrah.
