Red Table Wine
Pumphouse’s goal is to bring together a number of varietals in blends to exemplify the fruit forward, soft, plump approachability of modern day easy drinking red wines. Pumphouse Red has lots of fruit, lots of soft tannins and lots of value for the money.
Tasting Notes
Dark berry fruit and plums abound from the glass. These aromas flow onto the palate with plums, bing cherry and with some blueberry notes. This wine has a soft mid palate, plump, medium long finish with approachable fine grain tannin. This wine compliments everyday fair such as any pasta with a red sauce, pizza or beef stew.
Winemaking notes
A long 72 hour ‘cold soak’ pre-fermentation allows great extraction of color and fruit character. A short fermentation extracts nice ripe fruit character of blueberries and cherries without extracting harsher astringent tannins which are necessary for age ability. This allows the mid- palate to be full and lush. The multi-varietal blend is designed for ‘fruit expression and to allow soft fruit forward flavors.
