Volnay Premier Cru Santenots
Les Santenots lies on the southern edge of Volnay (technically in Meursault) and is considered one of the most prestigious sites in Volnay. With an average vine age of around fifty years, these are low yielding vines that produce very intense Pinot Noir flavors.
Tasting Notes
Les Santenots along with most 1° cru Volnay show more grace and elegance than its neighbor Pommard to the north. This wine has bright red fruit that show some raspberry and cherry notes, as well as a slight edge of currants. On the palate, firm tannins and bright acidity add to this well concentrated Pinot Noir. The outcome is elegance, but there is just enough power to make this a wine that will develop over time.
